Social Roleplaying
The idea behind RPGs or RPG, is that you take on the role of a character, set in a specific location. You then act in the capacity of that character, making decisions based on the experiences and the world around you.
Role playing, as defined in modern terms, it really has its beginning with Dungeons & Dragons board game. These games consist of a group of friends getting together, and the use of accessories as toy figures, maps and dice, to assume the role of characters in a collective history. A member of the group was generally referred to as a master role, establishing Complete rules and details of the world they were playing in.
With the advent of video games, much of the social aspect of role disappeared. You and no interaction with others to create a story, rather than you usually only manage a character or a small group of characters, and acting in the capacity of a species inventory manager, whose job is to keep a check gold won by killing monsters, gold output and invest in new weapons so that could kill more monsters.
The advent of the Internet, and the evolution of gaming devices like the Xbox 360 that allows users connect with others on the web. This allowed the creation of interactive role-playing games, where they created a world, and then filled with hundreds of people from all over the world. World of Warcraft is a very popular example of a game.
The problem with these interactive games are role was extremely limited. Players control a small avatar, but the avatar is constrained in its actions to what the developers think to put in it. As games have grown in complexity, what options can do with a character has grown, with users being able to customize the appearance, skills, traits, and characteristics of the avatar. They are also capable of carrying out a variety of actions such as dancing, kissing, sitting, running and jumping. The problem is that there is no real way to allow an infinite number of actions, because before action can take place, must be programmed into the game designer.
These limitations restrict the amount of creativity that can be used by players. This makes it difficult to express a truly unique character, rather than a standard cookie cutter monster murderer with a number x hit points and such and such a level of skill. Also restricts the ability of the players interact with each other significantly.
These restrictions are being challenged by some new and innovative forms of social networks. Facebook applications such as werewolves, vampires vrs "or" Pirates vrs. Ninjas "Allow members to add the fantasy aspects of his public profile, and even interact in any way. These interactions are still very limited, however, and the nature of Facebook makes it a little flexible to perform a decent role playing history in.
Other innovators, such as href = "http://www.truelore.com/"> http://www.TrueLore.com are independent development of social networks designed to fit around a story that will specifically although extensive, is specific to that network. On this site, users are instructed to create profiles just as in traditional social networks. However, the twist is that These people are encouraged to develop their profiles about fictional characters, including background stories, optional images themselves, and any special skills it can include.
Role playing is done through a variety of forums, blogs and chat rooms. Users are encouraged to submit photos and videos to help deepen their arguments, and there is even an innovative combat system is based entirely on text-based descriptions of the attacks.
The efforts of sites like true Lore, and several others are carrying much of the creativity and imagination back into RPGs. Since the interactions are based Text, images and videos, no programming limitations that restrict what can and can not be done. Besides the great variety of local communications is much easier for members to meet and interact in the most unique and meaningful ways.
http://www.TrueLore.com is a social game. Facebook or Myspace is being oneself, but the real Lore can be anything. You can meet characters such as vampires, men wolf tree elves, wizards, and even a demon can be found flirting with cute.
